The Bark Phone and Bark Watch subscriptions both come with wireless service provided by Bark. As part of the setup process, Bark will assign your child a phone number with an area code within your zip code.

You can also transfer an existing number from another carrier — known as "porting" — at no additional cost!

Note: This article applies only to brand new Bark Phones or Bark Watches. If you have already ported a number and later ordered a replacement, you do not need to port the number again nor switch the SIM in the replacement device.

How to transfer your kid's number from another carrier to the Bark device

  1. Keep your service active with the other carrier until your number is fully activated with Bark. Your account with your previous service provider must remain active to transfer your number over.

  2. Wait to transfer your number until after you get your new Bark Phone and set it up.

  3. Gather this info from your previous carrier:

    • Carrier name (e.g. Verizon, AT&T)

    • Name on account

    • Address on account

    • Phone number you'd like to transfer to Bark (please contact your carrier to authorize the release of the number for porting purposes.)

    • Account number (usually located on your bill or service provider portal)

    • PIN needed to move your number over:

      🔎 Find your PIN

  4. Enter that info into your Bark account settings.

    • Log in to your Bark account.

    • Tap

    • Scroll down to Mobile Plans.

    • Tap Manage Device.

    • Tap Transfer number in to Bark.

  5. Do not swap out SIM cards for the number transfer. The Bark Phone comes with a SIM pre-installed. Replacing the original Bark SIM card with a different SIM card may cause issues.

If you still want to transfer the number to a different carrier, here's how:

  1. Keep your Bark account active so that the number isn't lost.

  2. Back up your kid's contacts, photos, and other data. This step is crucial as it's your last chance before the phone undergoes the port-out process.

  3. Log in to your Bark account.

  4. Tap

  5. Scroll down to Mobile Plans.

  6. Tap Manage Device.

  7. Tap Transfer number out of Bark.

  8. You'll see a page with your Bark account number and port-out PIN.

  9. Review your other carrier's instructions for completing the number port / transfer.

  10. Once the port-out process is complete, it will automatically cancel your Bark Phone line. You can reactivate your Bark Phone line at any time in your Account Settings under Deactivated Devices. If you don't see it there, reach out to us!

    • The Bark Phone will gray out or block all apps except the Phone app.

    • The Bark Phone will no longer function as a Bark Phone, but it can still be used as a regular phone. If you own the phone, reach out to us to get Bark removed from the phone.

    • The Bark Watch will no longer work. It won't make calls nor send texts.

How to transfer your kid's number from same Bark device to same Bark device

For example, Bark Phone to Bark Phone, or Bark Watch to Bark Watch.

  1. Do not swap out SIM cards for the number transfer. Replacing the original Bark SIM card with a different SIM card may cause issues. The Bark Phone comes with a SIM pre-installed and the Bark Watch comes with an eSIM.

  2. Please reach out to us with the details of the transfer (like which devices, which phone numbers).

How to transfer your kid's number between different Bark devices

Due to the differences in SIMs between the phones and the watch, we currently can't support number transfers from Bark Phone to Watch or vice versa, but are working towards being able to support them in the future. Please reach out to us with the devices in question and we'll look into your options.
