Use Water Lock for swimming with the Bark Watch (Samsung model)

Turn it on before your child gets in the water so drops do not tap the screen, then turn it off to clear the water out.

The Samsung model can be worn for water activities like swimming when Water Lock is on. Water Lock locks the touchscreen so splashes and drops do not trigger taps by accident.

Turn on Water Lock

There are two ways:

  • Automatically: when your child starts a water workout like Pool swim or Open water swim in Samsung Health, Water Lock turns on by itself. See Track exercises and workouts on the Bark Watch.

  • Manually: from the watch face, swipe down to open the Quick Access panel, swipe the tiles, then tap Water lock. Do this before your child gets in the water.

While Water Lock is on

  • The screen will not respond to taps, which is what keeps water from causing problems.

  • During a water workout, press the Back button to change the workout screen.

Turn off Water Lock

  1. Press and hold the Home button to turn Water Lock off.

  2. The watch pushes water out of the speaker. You may hear a spitting sound and feel a little air and water come out. That is normal.

  3. Shake the watch gently to clear out any leftover water, then tap OK.

  4. Dry the watch with a soft, clean cloth.

What to know about water resistance

  • The watch has two water resistance ratings, 5ATM and IPX8. They come from lab tests in still, fresh water, 5ATM at 50 meters and IPX8 at 1.5 meters. Lab tests are not the same as real swimming, so treat the ratings as a guide and keep your child in shallow water.

  • It is fine to wear while swimming in a pool or calm, shallow water, washing hands, or out in the rain.

  • Avoid diving, snorkeling, deep water, fast-moving water like rivers, water sports like water-skiing or surfing, high-pressure water, and hot water or steam like a sauna or hot shower. These can force water past the seals.

  • Water resistance is not permanent. It weakens over time with normal wear.

  • After a pool or the ocean, rinse the watch with clean, fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth. Pool chemicals and salt can wear down water resistance.
