How to port your phone number to Bark

Bring your child's existing phone number into Bark, or transfer it out.

The Bark Phone and Bark Watch subscriptions both come with wireless service provided by Bark. You can also add a Bark wireless subscription to existing iOS and Android devices.

Then, Bark will assign you a phone number with an area code within your zip code. You can also transfer an existing number from another carrier — known as "porting" — at no additional cost!

Note: If you have already ported a number and later ordered a Bark Phone or Watch replacement, you do not need to port the number again nor switch the SIM in the replacement device.

↪ How to transfer number from another carrier to the Bark device

  1. Keep your service active with the other carrier until your number is fully activated with Bark. Your account with your previous service provider must remain active to transfer your number over.

  2. Wait to transfer your number until after you set up your Bark Phone, Watch, or family wireless phone.

  3. Gather this info from your previous carrier:

    • Carrier name (e.g. Verizon, AT&T)

    • Name on account

    • Address on account

    • Phone number you'd like to transfer to Bark (please contact your carrier to authorize the release of the number for porting purposes.)

    • Account number (usually located on your bill or service provider portal)

    • PIN needed to move your number over: 🔎 Find your PIN

  4. Enter that info into your Bark account settings.

    • Log in to your Bark account.

    • Tap Account.

    • Scroll down to Mobile Plans.

    • Tap Manage Device.

    • Tap Transfer number in to Bark.

Important: Do not swap out SIM cards for the number transfer to a Bark Phone. The Bark Phone comes with a SIM pre-installed. Replacing the original Bark SIM card with a different SIM card may cause issues.

If you still want to transfer the number to a different carrier, here's how:

  1. Keep your Bark account active so that the number isn't lost.

  2. Back up your contacts, photos, and other data. This step is crucial for Bark Phones as it's your last chance before the phone undergoes the port-out process.

  3. Log in to your Bark account.

  4. Tap Account.

  5. Scroll down to Mobile Plans.

  6. Tap Manage Device.

  7. Tap Transfer number out of Bark.

  8. You'll see a page with your Bark account number and port-out PIN.

  9. Review your other carrier's instructions for completing the number port / transfer.

  10. Once the port-out process is complete, it will automatically cancel your Bark wireless line. You can reactivate your line at any time in your Account Settings under Deactivated Devices. If you don't see it there, reach out to us!

    • The Bark Phone and Watch will gray out all apps except the Phone app.

    • The Bark Phone will no longer function as a Bark Phone, but it can still be used as a regular phone if you select to Unlock it under your Account Settings > Deactivated Devices.

    • The Bark Watch will no longer work. It won't make calls nor send texts.
