Unable to sign in to Google Play Store or Google services

Supervised and school-issued Google accounts may not work on the Bark Phone — here's how to fix it.

If you enable the App Store for your child, it will ask that your kid sign in with a Google account before they can download apps.

When your child tries to sign into the Play Store or other Google apps like Chrome or Gmail on their Bark Phone, certain types of Google accounts may cause issues:

If the account is supervised

Stop account supervision within your Family Link app or create a new Google account for your child (learn how).

If the account is school-issued

Not all school accounts will have issues. If yours does, you can ask your school's IT department to follow these steps to allow your child to sign in on a Bark Phone.

In the meantime, here's how to switch to a personal Google account:

  1. On your kid’s Bark Phone, open up the Settings app.

  2. Tap Accounts & Backup.

  3. Tap Manage Accounts.

  4. Sign out of your kid's school-issued account.

  5. Tap ➕ Add account.

  6. Tap Google.

  7. Sign in with your kid's personal Google account or create a new Google account.

Still can't sign in?

It sounds like you may need to allow the App Store category, the Google Workspace app, and/or the Gmail app in your screen time rules.
