Battery settings on your child's Android device could be impacting Bark. Tired of keeping track of all your kid’s settings? Try our new Bark Phone — it’s not impacted by battery settings!

In the meantime, here’s how to check these settings on your kid's Android.


Find your kid's Android version

  1. On your kid's Android, open the Settings app.

  2. Tap on the 🔍 magnifying glass to search.

  3. Search for About phone.

  4. Tap on the result.

  5. Look for the Android version. Then, look for the matching instructions below:


Adjust battery settings on your kid's Android

Android 14+

  1. On your kid's Android, open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Apps.

  3. Tap App battery usage.

  4. Tap Bark.

  5. Enter a device code when prompted.

  6. Tap Allow background usage.

Android 13

  1. On your kid's Android, open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Apps.

  3. Tap App battery usage.

  4. Tap Bark.

  5. Enter a device code when prompted.

  6. Tap Unrestricted.

Android 12

  1. On your kid's Android, open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Apps.

  3. Tap All Apps.

  4. Tap Bark.

  5. Enter a device code when prompted.

  6. Tap Battery.

  7. Tap Unrestricted.

Android 10-11

  1. On your kid's Android, open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Apps & Notifications.

  3. Tap Advanced.

  4. Tap Special app access.

  5. Tap Battery optimization.

  6. Tap the dropdown menu v at the top then tap All apps.

  7. Tap Bark.

  8. Tap Don't optimize.

  9. Tap Done.

Android 9

  1. On your kid's Android, open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Apps (or "Apps & Notifications").

  3. Tap Special app access (may be under "Advanced").

  4. Tap Battery optimization.

  5. Tap the dropdown menu v at the top then tap All apps.

  6. Scroll down and toggle off Bark.

Android 6-8

  1. On your kid's Android, open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Battery.

  3. Tap three dots (...) on the top right.

  4. Tap Battery Optimization (or "Optimize Battery usage").

  5. Tap the dropdown menu v at the top then tap All Apps.

  6. Scroll down and tap Bark.

  7. Tap Don’t Optimize.

  8. Tap Done.
