When the Bark Kids app requires an update, you'll be notified when you check its status in your parent app or dashboard.

How to update the Bark Kids app

Depending on which device your child has, the steps to update vary slightly.

Bark Phone & Bark Watch

Good news! Updates happen automatically, but restarting will help speed it up. If needed, connect to Wi-Fi for faster download speeds.

Androids
  1. On your kid's phone or tablet, open a web browser app (like Chrome).
  2. Visit bark.us/android.
    Page not loading? Check whether your child is "Paused" by following these steps. If still no luck, check whether the Unidentifiable Traffic category is blocked in the current screen time rules by following these steps.
  3. Download the bark_kids_app.png Bark Kids app on that page.
  4. Wait for the download to complete, and then tap Open.
    Don't see it? You can find it in the browser app's Downloads or in the device's Files app. Alternatively, you can swipe your finger down from the top and open the downloaded file that way.
  5. Tap on Install.

    Seeing a pop-up warning about "from Unknown Sources"? Don’t worry — the Bark for Kids app is perfectly safe! But you’ll need to allow this for Bark to work. Continue with our walkthrough here! 
  6. Open the Bark Kids app.
  7. If it's asking to grant permissions, tap Allow.
  8. That's it! You can now return the device to your child.
