How to Connect a Yahoo Email Account

Bark can monitor emails, including attachments, on connected email accounts like Yahoo and send alerts for concerning content like bullying, sexual content, violence, and risky apps. However, due to Yahoo's security policies, special steps are required to set up monitoring for Yahoo! Mail.


Get Started

  1. Log in to your child's Yahoo Mail.

  2. In the top right, click on their profile.

  3. Click Manage your account.

  4. If prompted to set up 2-step verification, set it up!

  5. Once 2-step verification is set up, select the Security tab at the top of the page.

  6. Scroll down and look for the External connections section.

  7. Click the button to Create app password.

    Getting "App passwords are not available for this account"? This is something that Yahoo and AOL have been experiencing periodically for some accounts. Try again in a few days and submit your feedback to them.

  8. Enter Bark as the name. Click Generate password.

  9. Copy the password:

  10. Paste that within the password field for connecting to a Yahoo account:

That's it! 🎉

You will then see it on your child's profile, along with all of your child's other monitored accounts.
