How to Connect an iCloud Email Account

You'll need to generate an app password in your child's Apple ID settings before connecting to Bark.

Bark monitors emails sent and received on connected iCloud email accounts ending in @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com. We'll alert you to bullying, sexual content, violence, weapons, and more. We can also alert you to new and risky apps your child signed up for with this email.

Note: Connecting iCloud email only monitors emails. To also monitor texts, photos, and more on an iOS device, follow this guide.

  1. Enable two-factor authentication on your child's Apple ID:

    • On your child's device, open Settings > [your child's name] > Password & Security (or Sign-in and Security).

    • Tap Turn On Two-Factor Authentication and follow the prompts.

  2. On a computer or your own phone, go to appleid.apple.com.

  3. Log in with your child's Apple ID and password.

  4. Select App-Specific Passwords.

  5. Click Generate app-specific password or the + symbol.

  6. Type Bark as the name, then confirm the Apple ID password when prompted.

  7. Copy the long password that appears on the next screen.

  8. Open your parent app or dashboard.

  9. Tap your child's profile.

  10. Tap the + icon in the top right.

  11. Select Set up monitoring.

  12. Under Email, select iCloud.

  13. Enter your child's iCloud email address.

  14. Paste the password into the iCloud password field and tap Connect.

  15. 🎉 You're all set! The iCloud account will appear on your child's profile alongside their other connected accounts.

If your child has an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, you'll need a few more steps to monitor texts, photos, and videos on that device. This guide will walk you through it.
