Samsung has its own take on Android that it calls One UI. In addition to the regular Android battery optimization settings, there are some specific settings you can adjust on your kid's Samsung to ensure Bark isn't affected.

Find your kid's Android version
- On your kid's Samsung, open the ⚙ Settings app.
- Tap on the 🔍 magnifying glass to search.
- Search for About phone.
- Tap on the result.
- Look for the Android version. Then, look for the matching instructions below:
Check battery settings on your kid's Samsung
Android 12+
- On your kid's Samsung, open the ⚙ Settings app.
- Tap Apps.
- Tap Bark.
- Tap Battery.
- Tap Unrestricted.
Android 9-11
- On your kid's Samsung, open the ⚙ Settings app.
- Tap Apps.
- Tap Bark.
- Tap Battery.
- Tap Optimize Battery Usage.
- Tap on the v dropdown menu.
- Tap on All.
- Find Bark in the list.
- Toggle off Bark so that it's not affected by battery settings.

Android 7-8
- On your kid's Samsung, open the ⚙ Settings app.
- Tap Applications.
- Tap the three dots on the top right.
- Tap Special access.
- Tap Optimize Battery Usage.
- Find Bark on the list and make sure it's toggled off.
- Next, tap the ⏹ button (on the bottom) to open the Home Screen.
- Swipe up to view all apps.
- Look for the Samsung Smart Manager app.
- App is installed: Check that App Battery Optimizer is turned off.
- App is not installed: Great! You can skip this step.
- Next, open the ⚙ Settings app again.
- Tap Device Care (or "Device Maintenance").
- Tap Battery.
- Scroll all the way down and tap Unmonitored apps.
- Tap the three dots on the top right.
- Add Bark to be an unmonitored app.
Check "Adaptive power saving" on your kid's Samsung
- On your kid's Samsung, open the ⚙ Settings app.
- Tap Device Care.
- Tap Battery.
- Tap on the ⁝ menu.
- Tap Automation or Advanced.
- Turn off Adaptive power saving.
- Turn off Auto optimize daily.
Check "Adaptive battery" on your kid's Samsung
- On your kid's Samsung, open the ⚙ Settings app.
- Tap Battery.
- Tap More battery settings.
- Turn off Adaptive battery.
Check "app sleep" on your kid's Samsung
- On your kid's Samsung, open the ⚙ Settings app.
- Tap Device Care.
- Tap Battery.
- Tap App Power Management.
- Tap Apps that won't be put to sleep.
- Add Bark.
Not finding the app sleep settings? On some devices, you have to go to Settings > Battery > Background usage limits > tap on each option ("Sleeping," "Deep sleeping," and "Never sleeping apps") to and make sure the Bark Kids app is set to never be put to sleep.
