Error: "Sync not found" during setup

Check that the Bark-provided cable is securely connected between the iOS device and Bark Sync.

When setting up the Bark Sync for the first time, the Bark Kids app looks for the device when it's plugged in with the included Bark cable. If you see the "Sync not found" error, follow these steps to fix it!

  1. 🛑 Make sure the Bark Sync is not plugged into your child's iPhone or iPad yet.

  2. Open the Bark Kids app and log in with a device code. Allow all permissions when asked.

  3. Tap the Sync tab, then tap Add Bark Sync.

  4. Plug the Bark Sync into an outlet. Wait for it to have blinking blue LED lights.

  5. Then connect your child's iPhone or iPad to the Bark Sync using the included cable — look for the Bark logos on the ends.

  6. When a Local Network pop-up appears on the child's iOS device, tap Allow.

7. Don't see that pop-up? No problem — here's another way to turn it on:

  • Open the Settings app.

  • Tap Privacy & Security.

  • Scroll down and tap Local Network.

  • Turn on the toggle next to Bark.

8. Go back to the Bark Kids app and tap Sync. It should find your Bark Sync this time!

9. Still can't be found?

  • Unplug the Bark Sync from power. Unplug the cable. Then restart the iOS device.

  • While the iOS device is restarting, plug the Bark Sync back into power.

  • Once the iOS device has fully finished restarting, reconnect the cable included with your Bark Sync.

  • Wait for the Sync's LED light to be blinking blue.

  • Open the Bark Kids app and try finding the Sync again. It should find it this time!

10. When the Sync is found, follow the rest of the setup instructions to finish.
