Reviewing alerts

Learn how Bark notifies you about issues.

When does Bark send an alert?

If Bark finds a potential issue in your child's online activities, you and your notification contacts will receive an email, text, or app alert along with a snippet of the conversation or media for your review.

Note Bark alerts are not sent in real time. It may take some time to receive notifications as we analyze context, not just keywords.

We also include tips on how to handle the situation.

Alert Quality

Bark goes beyond blocking access — it analyzes content on texts, photos, videos, and more. If it detects instances of depression, bullying, drug use, suicidal thoughts, or anything else that may be alarming, it will alert you.

  • If you are feeling like most alerts you receive are too mild, re-evaluate your alert sensitivity settings for that child.

  • If you've received an alert that you believe to be a false positive, or if you're unsure whether an issue actually exists, don't hesitate to contact us with the Alert URL. We understand the importance of accurate and reliable alerts, and your feedback helps us improve our accuracy.

Note For privacy reasons, Bark Support cannot view the content of your alerts directly. However, sharing the Alert URL allows them to investigate the alert and provide you with more detailed information or assistance.
