User Management

Super admins and OU admins can invite, edit, and remove users, and assign them to specific organizational units or groups.

Severe threats are often time-sensitive, so we recommend adding alternate users — like a principal or school psychologist — for each school or district.

Inviting users

  1. Log in as the Bark for Schools super admin or OU admin.

  2. Navigate to the top right drop-down menu and select Users.

  3. Select Invite user and include:

    • Email Address

    • Emergency Contact Number

    • Role

    • Groups/organizational units assigned

      • To assign all groups, ensure Access to all organizational units? is On.

      • To assign specific groups, ensure Access all organizational units? is toggled Off and now you can type in the applicable groups.

💡 Assigning a user to a top-level organizational unit or group does not grant access to its sub-groups. Each sub-group must be assigned to the user individually.

  4. Then, the User will receive an email invite.

  5. Going forward they'll log into bark.us/schools with their school issued account — no additional username or password needed. Share the User's Guide with them for tips.

Bark for Schools+ Settings

Schools or districts with Bark for Schools+ have more customizable User settings than the free product. They can specify which types of alerts Users get, choose what alerts they receive email notifications for, and choose whether they are an emergency phone contact for urgent alerts.

  • Visible means you will see alerts for that category on your dashboard. The alerts have to be visible for you to receive email notifications or emergency calls for them.

  • Notification will turn on email notifications for the alert type. We will send you email notifications (lower level alerts and severe alerts) for all alerts created in the category.

  • Severe Notification will turn on only severe email notifications for the abuse type.

  • Emergency will turn on text messages and phone calls for imminent threat situations. To adjust the order in which these Users are called for emergency issues:

    • Click Manage emergency priority at the bottom of the page.

    • Then, click and drag the Users into the order of priority that works best for your use-case:
