What to do when you want to learn more about an alert

Each alert includes the platform, timestamp, and recommended actions to help you decide what to do next.

How to read a Bark alert

Bark alerts include context and details to help you understand what's going on.

  1. Check the platform
The top left of the alert shows where the issue was detected, like a video saved to your child's Android device.

  2. Look at the timestamp
This may reflect when Bark scanned the content, or when it was originally sent or received.

  3. Read the recommended actions
At the bottom of each alert, you'll find recommended next steps and helpful links.

Need more context?

If you don't have enough information to take action, try these:

  1. Spot-check your child's device or account
Some kids delete content, so it may not still be there. If it is, you may be able to see more context around the issue. Some devices also have a "Recently Deleted" folder worth checking.

  2. Rate the alert
At the bottom of each alert, you can provide feedback. This helps train Bark's AI to flag issues more accurately.

What does "This was filtered due to inappropriate content" mean?

Example:

Filtered due to inappropriate content

Bark is required by law to delete potential child nudity from our servers. When this happens, the original image or video is replaced with a gray placeholder. Sometimes the system errs on the side of caution and adds the placeholder for adult nudity as well.

Follow the recommended steps above to check your child's accounts or devices for the image or video. If you can't find it, it may have already been deleted. On a Bark Phone, images containing nudity are automatically deleted as part of our sexting prevention feature.
