Manage texting for the Bark Phone

Block the text app, set limits on texting, and more.

How to block or allow texting

  1. On your Bark parent app / dashboard, tap your child's name.

  2. Scroll down to Settings.

  3. Allow or block Texting.

When texting is blocked:

  • The orange_messages_app.png Messages app grays out and becomes inaccessible.

  • Your child won't receive notifications for new texts.

Set time limits on texting

There are two ways to do this:

Mute texts

Your child can mute individual conversations or group chats directly on the Bark Phone, which can help reduce distractions from busy group threads.

  1. On the Bark Phone, open the conversation you'd like to mute.

  2. Tap the three dots at the top.

  3. Tap Mute.

Block unknown contacts and prevent spam

Delete texts

By default, texts they send or receive cannot be deleted on the Messages app, though you can change that setting at any time:

  1. Tap your child's profile.

  2. Scroll down to Settings.

  3. Tap Other.

  4. Adjust the Delete text messages setting:

Things to know:

  • This setting is not affected by any routines or schedules.

  • If your child installed a different texting app, they may have been able to delete messages in that app. We've added a way to prevent other apps from becoming the default texting app.

  • If Delete texts is enabled and your child blocks a number through their phone settings, that conversation will disappear from the Messages app until unblocked.

  • If Delete texts is disabled and your child blocks a number through their phone settings, the conversation will stay visible in the Messages app.
