Manage texting for the Bark Watch

Blocking and allowing texting works the same on both watch models. Only the steps for opening Messages on the watch differ.

You turn texting on or off from your Bark parent app or dashboard. When texting is on, your child can send and read texts on the watch, using the steps for their model.

How to block or allow texting

  1. On your Bark parent app / dashboard, tap your child's name.

  2. Scroll down to Settings.

  3. Allow or block Texting.

When texting is blocked:

  • The Messages app becomes disabled.

  • Your child won't get notifications for new texts.


How to send texts

Follow the steps for the watch your child wears.

Samsung model

Using the Phone app:

  1. From the watch face, swipe up to open the Apps screen.

  2. Tap Phone.

  3. Tap Contacts at the top.

  4. Tap the contact you want to text.

  5. Tap Message.

  6. Write your text, then send it.

    • To talk to type instead of using the keyboard, tap on the reply field, then drag the — icon up, and tap the 🎤︎︎ microphone icon to speak your message.

    • That same menu also has handwriting-to-text, emojis, numbers, and symbols.

Using the Contacts app:

  1. From the watch face, swipe up to open the Apps screen.

  2. Tap Contacts.

  3. Tap the contact you want to text.

  4. Tap Message.

  5. Write your text, then send it.

    • To talk to type instead of using the keyboard, tap on the reply field, then drag the — icon up, and tap the 🎤︎︎ microphone icon to speak your message.

    • That same menu also has handwriting-to-text, emojis, numbers, and symbols.

Using the Messages app:

  1. From the watch face, swipe up to open the Apps screen.

  2. Tap Messages.

  3. Tap an existing conversation or tap + to start a new one.

  4. Write your text, then send it.

    • To talk to type instead of using the keyboard, tap on the reply field, then drag the — icon up, and tap the 🎤︎︎ microphone icon to speak your message.

    • That same menu also has handwriting-to-text, emojis, numbers, and symbols.

Schok model

If they haven't yet started a text conversation with that person:

  1. Short-press the top side button on the watch to open the home screen.

  2. Swipe from left to right ➡ to open the apps list.

  3. Scroll down and tap Contacts.

  4. Tap the contact you'd like to text.

  5. Tap orange_messages_app.png message on the bottom.

  6. Compose the text and send it!

If they have already started a text conversation with that person:

  1. Short-press the top side button on the watch to open the home screen.

  2. Swipe from left to right ➡ to open the apps list.

  3. Scroll down and tap Messages.

  4. Tap the conversation.

  5. Compose the text and send it!


How to delete texts

Follow the steps for the watch your child wears.

Samsung model

By default, your child cannot delete the texts they send or receive. If you want to let them delete texts, you can turn that on from your dashboard.

  1. On your Bark parent app / dashboard, tap your child's name.

  2. Scroll down to Other.

  3. Adjust the Delete text messages setting.

Schok model

Your child cannot delete the texts they send or receive, and this cannot be changed.
