Recommended Sleep Settings for Windows

This article will show the recommended sleep settings on your Windows computer to ensure your child's iOS device continues to be monitored as often as possible.

The steps vary slightly based on your Windows version.
Windows 10 / 11 Windows 7 / 8

Windows 10 and 11

  1. Open the Windows 10 Disable Start Menu Start menu.
  2. Select Settings on the left.
  3. Choose System.
  4. Select Power & Sleep on the left.
  5. Scroll down to Sleep.
  6. Set the drop-down menu for both options shown below to be 5 hours or Never.
  7. For more power saving options, select Additional power settings to change how your device uses power. 

    Can I still turn off the display? Yes, only Sleep, Hibernation, or Shut Down states will stop the automatic analyses from occurring.

Is your computer a laptop? 

You can also adjust what happens when you close the lid, so that it does not go to sleep!

  3. Under When I close the lid, select Do nothing for both On battery and Plugged in options. run-the-laptop-with-lid-closed-pic3.png
  4. Click on Save changes.
  5. Now if you close the laptop lid, it will not put the Bark Desktop App to sleep, meaning your child's iPhone or iPad can be analyzed more often. Success! 🎉
