Bark scans iOS devices every 3–6 hours by default, but you can trigger a manual scan anytime from your dashboard.

By default, Bark analyzes your child's iOS device every 3–6 hours depending on your setup. If you'd rather not wait, you can trigger a scan manually at any time.

  1. Open your parent app / Bark dashboard.

  2. Tap your child's profile.

  3. Tap Devices at the top.

  4. Tap your child’s iOS device.

  5. Under Monitoring Devices, tap Analyze.

  6. If prompted, enter your child's lock screen passcode. If you're using the Bark Sync, this is handled automatically.

  7. Wait for the scan to finish.

  8. Once the scan is done, keep in mind that alerts are not instant. We'll only notify you if we detect potential issues like bullying, sexual content, and more.

Seeing "Bark Sync not online," "Computer not online," or "Bark Home not online"?

  • Bark Sync: Follow this guide to get it back online.

  • Computer: Make sure it's powered on, connected to the internet, and set to never sleep.

  • Bark Home: Make sure it's powered on, plugged into your router, and paired to your account.

Tips for keeping scans consistent

If using a Bark Sync

  1. Talk to your child about why plugging into the Bark Sync to charge is important. Here are tips for that conversation.

  2. Make sure the Bark Sync is connected to Wi-Fi when your child plugs in their device. Check its status in your parent app or dashboard, or in Bark Kids app > Sync. You can also check the LED lights on the device.

  3. If your child is traveling, they can reconnect the Bark Sync to a new Wi-Fi network by plugging in their device, opening Bark Kids app > Settings, and selecting the new network.

If using a computer or Bark Home

  1. Make sure your child's device is turned on and connected to your home Wi-Fi.

  2. If it's still not connecting, try plugging the device directly into your computer or Bark Home.

  3. Away from home? Bark will scan the device the next time it connects to your home Wi-Fi.
