Are Smart TVs, gaming consoles, phones, tablets, etc. compatible with Bark Home?
When you purchase and activate Bark Home by connecting it to your home router, you are able to enforce in-home web filtering. You can block apps/sites and set schedules for any device connected to your home network (whether over Wi-Fi or over ethernet). Click here to learn more about Bark Home.
Is my router compatible with the Bark Home device?
Bark Home is compatible with most routers. Check this article to see if your router model is listed as incompatible or requires settings adjustments.
Is my child's iOS device compatible with Bark?
Bark is able to monitor the content of devices with Apple's iOS 11 or later. At this time, Bark is not compatible with Beta versions of iOS and some jailbroken iOS devices.
Bark supports on-the-go Screen Time and Web Filtering on devices with Apple's iOS 11 or later as well. Please note that devices on iOS 11 and iOS 12 may need to follow these additional steps when it comes to Screen Time and Web Filtering.
Unsure which version your child's device is on?
Tap on their Settings app > General > Software Update.
Is my computer compatible with the Bark Desktop App?
The Bark Desktop App is only necessary if you are on the Bark Premium plan and one of your children uses an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. If your child uses an Android device or if you're on the Bark Jr plan, you don't need it!
The Bark Desktop App is compatible with Mac Operating System versions 10.11 or later and Windows Operating System versions 7, 8, 10, or 11 (64-bit).
Is my child's Android device compatible with Bark?
Bark is able to monitor the content of devices with Android version 5.0 or later.
Bark supports on-the-go Screen Time and Web Filtering on devices with Android version 6.0 or later.
Tap on their Settings app > System > Advanced > System update. If you don't see Advanced, tap About phone.
Is my child's computer compatible with the Bark for Chrome extension?
If you are on the Bark Premium plan, the Bark for Chrome extension monitors* your child's Google Chrome and Edge web browsing, web searches, and even incognito browsing on computers.**
*If you'd like to set up screen time & web filtering on a computer, you will need Bark Home.
**Bark is able to monitor the Chrome app automatically on connected Android or iOS phones and tablets.
***If you cannot install a Chrome extension on a Chromebook that is supervised by Family Link, it may be because you're on an older version of Chrome OS. Chrome OS 83 supports Chrome extensions on Chromebooks supervised by Family Link. Learn how to check for updates to Chrome OS here. If still no luck, it's likely due to your child's Google account being managed by a school or work, or due to the child's Google account being under 13 years old.
Is my child's Chromebook compatible with the Bark for Chromebooks app?
All Chromebooks that have launched in or after 2019 will support the Bark for Chromebooks app. The Chromebooks that were launched before 2019 that are able to install the Bark for Chromebook app are listed here: Supported Chromebooks
Is my child's Amazon Fire tablet compatible with Bark?
NOTE: If you'd like to set up screen time & web filtering on an Amazon Fire tablet, you will need Bark Home.
