Recommended Sleep Settings for Mac

This article will show the recommended sleep settings on your Mac to ensure your child's iOS device continues to be monitored as often as possible.

Keep Your Macbook Awake

MacOS 10.11-12 MacOS 13+
  1. Open system preferences.png System Preferences.
  2. Click 💡 Energy Saver. In newer versions of Mac, this is called mac_big_sur_battery.png Battery.
  3. Under both Battery and Power Adapter settings, uncheck "Put hard disks to sleep when possible."

  4. Under both Battery and Power Adapter settings, check "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off."

  5. Under both Battery and Power Adapter settings, check "Wake for network access."

(Optional) Schedule Mac to Turn on Automatically

  1. Click Schedule... in your Energy Saver preferences.
  2. Schedule a time for your Mac to turn on every day. Every family is different, but we recommend a 12-hour window for the computer to be turned on.
