These steps may vary slightly depending on your version of Mac.
Keep Your Macbook Awake
- Open System Preferences.
- Click 💡 Energy Saver. In newer versions of Mac, this is called Battery.
- Under both Battery and Power Adapter settings, uncheck "Put hard disks to sleep when possible."
- Under both Battery and Power Adapter settings, check "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off."
- Under both Battery and Power Adapter settings, check "Wake for network access."
- Open System Preferences.
- Click Battery.
- Click Options.
- Set Put hard disks to sleep when possible to Never. If you don't see this option, move on.
- Set Wake for network access to Always.
- On the left, click Displays.
- Click Advanced.
- Find Prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off and toggle it on.
(Optional) Schedule Mac to Turn on Automatically
- Click Schedule... in your Energy Saver preferences.
- Schedule a time for your Mac to turn on every day. Every family is different, but we recommend a 12-hour window for the computer to be turned on.
