When you visit detect.network as you set up your router with Bark for the first time, it'll take a few minutes. You'll see "Welcome to Bark Home."
If it takes longer than that, let's try the solutions below!
✅ Router detected | ⛔ Router undetected |
1️⃣ Make sure that you have connected the cables to the right ports.
- Ensure that the power cable for your router is securely connected and turned on.
💡 Pro tip: Test that the outlet has power by plugging in something like a lamp or phone charger. - Check the ethernet cables for the router are also securely connected.
- On a device connected to your router's Wi-Fi, like a computer, open a web browser and head to detect.network.
- You should see "Welcome to Bark Home" after a little while.
- If you get the same "Undetected" error (or a blank page), move on down to the next step.
2️⃣ Make sure that the device you're using to visit detect.network is connected to the network created by the router with Bark built-in.
During this initial setup, avoid connecting to a different network, "guest" network, or a mobile hotspot.
For example, if your router generates a Wi-Fi network called "CenturyLink7002," make sure that the device you are using to set up the router is also connected to "CenturyLink7002."
- Double check you're on the right network by opening your Wi-Fi settings and looking at the network name.
- Then, open up a browser on that device and head to detect.network.
- You should see "Welcome to Bark Home" after a little while.
- If you get the same "Undetected" error (or a blank page), move on down to the next step.
3️⃣ Temporarily disable any VPNs on the device you're using.
A VPN can get in the way of Bark's initial setup.
- Open up the ⚙ Settings app on your device.
- Turn off the VPN.
- Then, open up a browser and head to detect.network.
- You should see "Welcome to Bark Home" after a little while.
- If you get the same "Undetected" error (or a blank page), move on down to the next step.
4️⃣ Try using a private, guest, or incognito window in your browser.
Most browsers have these types of browsing modes.
- If you're using Chrome, open an incognito window by selecting the ⋮ menu.
- Click on New Incognito Window.
- Then, head to detect.network.
- You should see "Welcome to Bark Home" after a little while.
- If you get the same "Undetected" error (or a blank page), let's see if your Chrome browser has Guest Mode:
- Select the ⋮ menu on the top right.
- Hover over your currently logged in profile.
- Click Open Guest Profile.
- Then, head to detect.network.
- You should see "Welcome to Bark Home" after a little while.
- If you get the same "Undetected" error (or a blank page), move on down to the next step.
5️⃣ Try a different device.
Let's switch things up by using a different device than what you'd already been using. For example, if you were trying the initial setup from your iPhone, let's try the initial setup from your home computer.
- On the new device, open up a web browser.
- Then, open a private or incognito window in your browser.
- Head to detect.network.
- You should see "Welcome to Bark Home" after a little while.
- If you get the same "Undetected" error (or a blank page), move on down to the next step.
6️⃣ Turn off any network extenders or satellite mesh units aside from the main router.
These types of devices can sometimes impact Bark's initial setup. After we get through the initial setup, we'll turn them on again.
- Unplug any extra networking devices that aren't your router, like network extenders and satellite mesh units.
- Wait a few minutes.
- Keep your router plugged in and online.
- On a device connected to your home Wi-Fi, such as a computer, open a web browser and head to detect.network.
- You should see "Welcome to Bark Home" after a little while.
- If you get the same "Undetected" error (or a blank page), reach out to us with your router model and a description of the issue. We'll be glad to assist you!
