Allow Bark through your firewall

Your firewall may be accidentally blocking the Bark Desktop App or Bark Home from doing its job.

Below are instructions on adjusting common firewall settings on computers and routers.

If you use third-party security software, like Mcafee or Norton, consult their knowledge base for tips on allowing an app through their firewall.

windows.png Windows

  1. Select the windows.png Start menu, type Allow an app through Windows Firewall, and select it from the list of results.

  2. Click Change settings on the top right.

  3. To add Bark as an exception, select the checkboxes next to the Bark app in the list.

Don't see Bark on the list? Click on "Allow another app," find the "Bark.exe" file (usually easiest to find in your Desktop), and select it. Then, you can select the checkboxes next to Bark on the list.
  4. Save your changes.

  5. Restart your computer.

  5. Click the Firewall Options button.
  6. Click the Add Application (+) button.
  7. Add Bark.
  8. Restart your computer.

  1. Search your router or DNS filter's knowledge base for tips on accessing your site blocking settings (sometimes called "parental controls" or "URL filtering").
  2. Add and to the Allow List (sometimes called "whitelist").
Example: Add an Allowed URL to DNSFilter

What then?

After adding Bark as an exception to the firewall and restarting the computer, Bark should automatically retry the analysis but you can also manually start one, if needed.

Still no luck?

Check to see if it's one of these common errors.
