Text Instructions

Below are instructions on adjusting common firewall settings on computers and routers.

If you use third-party security software, like Mcafee or Norton, consult their knowledge base for tips on allowing an app through their firewall.


Windows

  1. Select the

    Start menu, type Allow an app through Windows Firewall, and select it from the list of results.

  2. Click Change settings on the top right.

  3. To add Bark as an exception, select the checkboxes next to the Bark app in the list.

    Don't see Bark on the list? Click "Allow another app," find the "Bark.exe" file (usually easiest to find in your Desktop), and select it. Then, you can select the checkboxes next to Bark on the list.

  4. Do the same steps with Bonjour by selecting the checkboxes next to Bonjour in the list.

  5. Save your changes.

  6. Restart your computer.


Mac

    System Preferences (or System Settings).

  2. Click the Security or Network icon.

  3. Select the Firewall tab.

  4. Click the lock icon, then enter the administrator name and password.

  5. Click the Firewall Options button.

  6. Click the Add Application (+) button.

  7. Add Bark.

  8. Restart your computer.


Routers and DNS Filters

  1. Search your router or DNS filter's knowledge base for tips on accessing your site blocking settings (sometimes called "parental controls" or "URL filtering").

  2. Add bark.us and amazonaws.com to the Allow List (sometimes called "whitelist").
