How to Manage SafeSearch in Bark
Within the Screen Time rules, you have the ability to enforce SafeSearch. You will find the setting towards the bottom of a particular ruleset:
About SafeSearch & Youtube Restricted Mode
SafeSearch is a feature provided by the Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo search engines. There is also a similar feature available for Youtube searches called Restricted Mode.
When SafeSearch is on in your Screen Time rules for a child or home profile, it helps filter out explicit content in that platform's search results for all searches done for images, videos, and websites on Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and Youtube. While these platforms admit that SafeSearch isn’t 100% accurate, it’s designed to help block explicit results, like pornography, from the search results. Youtube Restricted Mode, in addition, disables the comments on all Youtube videos the child watches.
It is important to note that these platforms control which content is filtered by their SafeSearch. However, what Bark can do when this setting is enabled in your Screen Time rules is ensure that the feature is locked on.
Remember, Bark can still block alarming sites/apps according to the other rules you set for different categories, like Social Media, Sexual Content, Drugs/Alcohol, etc. Learn more here!
