YouTube keeps getting disconnected from Bark

YouTube disconnects from Bark when account passwords, security settings, or age restrictions prevent access.

Some accounts are monitored by connecting them to Bark with your child's login credentials. If you see a message like "Fix YouTube," "YouTube has unauthorized Bark," or "Issue accessing YouTube account," it's usually due to one of these reasons:

  • Your child's account password was changed.

  • Your child's account security settings were changed, like two-factor authentication.

  • Your child's YouTube account was deleted.

  • YouTube automatically disconnected the account because it has a birthday under 13 or is supervised by Google Family Link.

How to fix it

Tap Fix YouTube in your parent app or dashboard and enter your child's account credentials, or invite them to reconnect it themselves.

If YouTube keeps disconnecting

YouTube accounts with a birthday under 13 or supervised by Google Family Link will disconnect repeatedly due to YouTube's security policies. Here's what to do:

  1. If they're over 13, you can stop Family Link supervision.

  2. If they're 12 or younger, YouTube doesn't allow the birthday to be changed. Your options are to wait until your child turns 13, or create a new YouTube account with a birthday over 13 so Bark can monitor it reliably.
