A Bark for Schools Super Admin may wish to review a web browsing report due to troubleshooting an unexpected block, ensuring new filter rules are acting as expected, or maintenance (by seeing the top blocked sites accessed by students).
Chrome & Edge Chromium Web Filter Reports
- Click on Reports under Web Filtering in your Bark dashboard drop-down menu on the top-right of your dashboard.
- Select the Chrome filter policy.
At the top, you'll see a summary of the web traffic requests processed. If you notice it has gone down to 0, check your configuration. Otherwise, proceed to the next step
- A little further down, you can click into the top blocked or top allowed domains to see what other students browsed that site:
For example, if I click bark.us under the Allowed section, I would see this log that shows these 3 students recently visited that site:
- Scroll down and select the Group/Organizational Unit. You can also use the search bar to search for a group/OU.
Here you will see a report for the whole organizational unit being filtered through the web filtering extension:
- Scroll down and select the Student. You can also use the search bar to find a student by first and/or last name.
- After selecting the student name, you will see a report detailing the last 1000 activities of student-specific web browsing.
In this student-specific report, you can see the category of browsed domains, whether they were allowed or blocked, as well as the date and time of the browsed activity. This part is immensely helpful for troubleshooting an unexpectedly blocked site.
Please Note: Bark for Schools+ and Filter+ customers are able to export the last 30 days of activities for each report. To learn more about how to export a report, please review this help article: Filter+: Exporting Web Filter Reports.
DNS Web Filter Reports
- Click on Reports under Web Filtering in your Bark dashboard drop-down menu on the top-right of your dashboard.
- Select the DNS filter you're interested in.
At the top, you'll see a summary of the web traffic requests processed. If you notice it has gone down to 0, check your configuration. Otherwise, proceed to the next step.
- Scroll down to the IP Addresses section and select the IP Address you're interested in.
- Scroll down to see the latest web browsing activity going through that IP on the network:
Miscategorized Web Sites
If you notice that a site is miscategorized, click on the category to suggest a new category for it. This will go straight to our team for review! In the meantime, we suggest you add that domain to your web filter exceptions.
