Block or Allow Texting
To manage your child's current texting settings from your dashboard, tap your child's name and then Edit under your child's active routine.
A blocked text app results in...
- The
Messages app becoming greyed out and inaccessible.
- No notifications for new text messages.
Set Time Limits on Texting
There are two ways to accomplish this:
- Set a routine for scheduled times they can text.
- Set a daily time limit for texting.
Mute Texts
Your child has the option to mute individual or group chat notifications on their Bark Phone, giving them more control over their texting experience. This makes it easier to stay focused and reduce distractions (for example, in situations where large group texts start popping off).
- On the Bark Phone, open the text conversation that you'd like to mute.
- Tap the three dots on the top.
- Tap Mute.

Delete Texts
By default, texts they send or receive cannot be deleted on the Messages app, though you can change that setting at any time under your child's profile > Manage Bark Phone features.
Things to note:
- This setting isn’t affected by any schedules you’ve set.
- If your child installed a different texting app, they might have been able to delete messages in that app. But don't worry, we’ve added a way to prevent those apps from becoming the default texting app.
- If you have Delete Texts enabled, and your child blocks a phone number through their own phone settings, the conversation with that number will disappear from the Messages app until it’s unblocked.
- If you have Delete Texts disabled (the default state), and your child blocks a phone number through their own phone settings, the conversation will remain in the Messages app.
