A Bark for Schools Super Admin may wish to review a web browsing report due to troubleshooting an unexpected block, ensuring new filter rules are acting as expected, or maintenance (by seeing the top blocked sites accessed by students).

Chrome & Edge Filter Reports

  1. Log in to your dashboard from a Bark Super Admin account.

  2. Click the drop-down menu > Web Filtering > Reports.

  3. Select the Chrome policy.

  4. At the top, you'll see a summary of the web traffic requests processed. If you notice it has gone down to 0, check your configuration. Otherwise, proceed to the next step

  5. A little further down, you can click into the top blocked or top allowed domains to see what other students browsed that site:

  6. For example, if I click bark.us under the Allowed section, I would see this log that shows these 3 students recently visited that site:

  7. Scroll down and select the Group/Organizational Unit to review the top blocked sites for that group.

  8. If you want a deeper look, scroll down and choose a student. This will display their top blocked sites and their most recent 1,000 visited sites:

You can see the category of browsed domains, whether they were allowed or blocked, as well as the date and time of the browsed activity. This part is immensely helpful for troubleshooting an unexpectedly blocked site.

💡 Filter+ unlocks expanded reporting, allowing you to export a full 30 days of filtering activity instead of just the latest 1,000 sites.

DNS Filter Reports

  1. Log in to your dashboard from a Bark Super Admin account.

  2. Click the drop-down menu > Web Filtering > Reports.

  3. Select the DNS policy.

  4. At the top, you'll see a summary of the web traffic requests processed. If you notice it has gone down to 0, check your configuration. Otherwise, proceed to the next step.

  5. Scroll down to the IP Addresses section and select the IP Address you're interested in.

  6. Scroll down to access the most recent 1,000 visited sites for that IP address. Here you’ll find domain categories, allow or block decisions, and timestamps for each request—an invaluable resource when troubleshooting unexpected blocks.

Miscategorized Sites

If you notice that a site is not categorized, click on the category to suggest a new category for it. This will go straight to our team for review! In the meantime, we suggest you add that domain to your web filter exceptions.
