Check-In Requests Not Resulting in Push Notification on Child App

When you click Request Check In on your dashboard or parent app, your child should receive a push notification on their Android or iOS device(s) that have the Bark Kids app installed.

If your children are not receiving the request to check in, then there are a few potential culprits.

Potential reason #1: The Bark Kids app is not up to date.

Potential reason #2: The device's notifications settings for the Bark Kids app need to be adjusted.

  • To adjust notification settings for Bark Kids on iOS, navigate to Settings > Notifications > Bark Kids > make sure Banners and Badges are enabled for the Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners.
  • To adjust notification settings for Bark Kids on Android, navigate to Settings > Apps > Bark for Kids > Notifications > Allow or show notifications.

If on Android 6-9, you may need to verify that Banners and Display in the status bar are also enabled.

If on Android 10, you may need to verify that the Check-In request notification toggle is also enabled (as seen below).

Potential reason #3: The Bark Kids app is logged out.

Make sure that when you tap on the Bark Kids app on your child's device, that you see a Check-In button, indicating you are logged in.

If you instead see a login screen prompting you to enter your parent login credentials, then you have not fully set up your child's Bark Kids app. If that's the case, click here for steps on how to set up your child's Bark Kids app.
