If location alerts or check-ins are showing your child's location as farther away than they actually are, let's check their location settings. Many of these location settings are enabled by default on a Bark Phone, but they may need some fine-tuning.
- Open up your parent app / dashboard.
- Tap on the Bark Phone tile.
- Tap Settings and enable it — this will allow the settings app to be used on your child’s Bark Phone for these steps.
- Now grab your kid's Bark Phone.
- Open their Settings app.
- Tap Location.
- Tap Location Services.
- Turn on Emergency Location Service, Google Location Accuracy, Wi-Fi scanning, and Bluetooth scanning.
- Tap < back.
- Tap on Bark Guard Dog under the Recent Access section.
🤔 Don't see Bark there? No worries, let's go this other route: Settings app > Apps > Bark Guard Dog > enter a device code when prompted > Permissions > Location > Allow all the time. - Enter a device code when prompted (it will grant access to these settings for 5 minutes).
- Tap Permissions > Location > select Allow all the time.
- Tap < back twice.
- Tap Apps > Bark Guard Dog .
- Tap Mobile Data.
- Toggle on Allow background data usage and Allow data usage while Data saver is on.
- Tap < back.
- Tap Battery > select Unrestricted.
- Tap < back.
- Tap Notifications.
- Toggle on Allow notifications.
- Tap < back twice and tap the
Bark Kids app.
- Tap Mobile Data.
- Toggle on Allow background data usage and Allow data usage while Data saver is on.
- Tap < back.
- Tap Battery > select Unrestricted.
That's it! You've now checked that they have the best settings for location alerts accuracy.
